Cement Tiles are made of concrete and the color in the pattern comes from mineral pigments which are mixed and poured into a mold. Usually about 3/32” thick. The mold is removed and the gray cement is fills the rest of the tile body to about 5/8” thick. The tile is then hydraulically pressed and is cured for about three weeks. This method was developed in the mid-19th century and is the same method we now use. Most of our Encaustic Tiles are designed by The Tile District.
All available in many colors and various finishes, smooth, slightly, and extremely distressed. Cement Tiles can be indoor or outdoor use. Sealing is not necessary, however Cement Tiles can all be sealed or stained, leaving them natural or with a sheen or shine. Variation is to be expected.
